Régnié,
a terroir for the future
Tradition and Modernity: Perfect Harmony
At Domaine des Braves, Victor and Clément attach particular importance to combining tradition and modernity. They believe that these two aspects are not mutually exclusive, but rather complementary. This conviction guides their actions in both vineyard work and winemaking.

The Plateau des Braves: land of granite
Domaine des Braves covers 13.5 hectares, all of it in the Régnié appellation. The vines are planted in a small area, the Plateau des Braves, on highly weathered granite soils. Part of the vineyard is located on the western slope of this plateau, where granite rock outcrops to the surface. To the east, clays give the grapes a different aromatic profile.
The vast majority of vines are trained in the traditional gobelet method. The average age of the vineyard is around 40 years, with some vines up to 80 years old. The estate also grows 1 hectare of Beaujolais Blanc, planted on granite soils that bring out atypical Chardonnay profiles.
Growing philosophy
The farm follows two main principles: a living soil and healthy plant material. To achieve this, prophylactic methods are favored to ensure the right balance between the vigor and potential of the vines, as well as good aeration of the vines.
With regard to weed management, shallow tillage using light machinery has been introduced to limit soil compaction and the risk of soil asphyxiation.

Gamay, a multi-faceted grape variety
During vinification, the domaine’s aim is to combine tradition and modernity, to bring out all the qualities and potential of the Gamay grape.
Depending on the wine profile required, winemaking practices are adapted: type of maceration, percentage of destemming, maceration times, etc.
Each parcel is vinified according to the winemaker’s judgement of its potential and the vintage’s climatic conditions.
Following on from the vinification process, different types of container are used for ageing: stainless steel vats, concrete vats and 500-liter demi-muids.
